What Pixel Up does
The app has two independent tools. Upscale increases actual image dimensions by 2× or 4× using included Real-ESRGAN models. Remove Background uses the included BEN2 model to produce transparent PNG cutouts. Both tools support multiple-image queues and run image processing on the user’s Windows PC.
Pixel Up is distributed through Microsoft Store for 64-bit Windows 10 version 2004 or later and Windows 11. Compatible GPUs can accelerate processing through DirectML, and the app can retry on CPU if the GPU path fails.
Free use and Pro
The free version includes 10 completed Upscale exports and 10 completed Remove Background exports. These limits are independent. Pixel Up Pro removes the export limits through a $19.99 USD one-time purchase without a subscription. Checkout is handled in the browser by Polar, followed by license-key activation in the app.
Privacy and support
Image processing happens locally; source images and pixel data are not uploaded to a cloud image service. Internet is used for Store downloads and updates and for optional Pro checkout and license validation. Read the privacy policy for the details.
