1. GPU & Graphics Adapter Configuration
A DirectX 12-compatible NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel GPU (including Intel UHD, Iris Xe, and Arc) is recommended for faster processing through DirectML. PixelUp can use a slower CPU fallback after supported GPU execution failures.
- Auto Mode (Recommended): PixelUp automatically detects and prioritizes your high-performance dedicated GPU when multiple adapters are present.
- GPU Driver Resets: If your graphics driver encounters a reset during intensive operations, PixelUp automatically reduces tile size and re-initializes sessions. If GPU device errors persist, the app safely falls back to CPU execution.
- Driver Updates: Ensure your graphics drivers are current from NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel.
2. Memory & Image Size Handling
Memory requirements depend on the source image dimensions and selected scale. PixelUp checks available memory before processing very large images.
- Before decoding pixels, PixelUp probes image dimensions from file headers to estimate peak memory usage.
- If the estimate exceeds physical memory thresholds or single-array caps (~2.1 GB limit), PixelUp issues a preflight notification to prevent application crashes or system instability.
- Tip: If you encounter memory notifications on very high-resolution originals, process images in smaller batches or select 2× scaling.
3. Background Removal Model & Storage
Storage is required for the application, exported images, and an additional background-removal model of approximately 223 MB. Final installed size will be published with the release package.
- Upscale models are included with the application.
- Remove Background requires an internet connection the first time its model is downloaded from Hugging Face; subsequent image processing can run locally.
- If the initial model download fails, verify your PC's internet connectivity and check that security software is not blocking outgoing HTTPS requests to
huggingface.co.
4. Contact Support
If you encounter technical issues, driver warnings, or have questions regarding hardware compatibility, our support team is available via email:
To help us diagnose your issue quickly, please include the following details in your message:
- Windows Version: Your exact Windows edition and build number (e.g., Windows 11 23H2 or Windows 10 Build 19045).
- GPU & Driver: Your graphics card model (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) and installed driver version.
- Operation: The tool being used (Upscale 2×/4× or Remove Background) and whether edge refinement was enabled.
- Error Message: The exact error description or unexpected behavior observed.
Privacy note: Never send personal or confidential images. If an issue is specific to a particular image layout, only attach an uncompressed test sample if you voluntarily choose to share it for debugging.
